Moya Gleave. The Billy Fury Fan Club. Auckland. New Zealand
You have been a part of my life for years - as long as I have known Billy. Watched Coro 3 years longer than its been on the air - N.Z. was 3 years behind when we came here in 1973. Just found out you have had a major Op. Take care & ROCK ON LIKE FURY BILL! Tried to meet you when you came to N.Z. a few years ago. Maybe if my friend and I win the Cathay Pacific trip (again) in August - we can come to Granada & kiss you better! Lotzaluv & XXX's from Moya & Fans'n'Friends in The Billy Fury Fan Club.

I read your article in last weeks News of the World. I was sorry to learn you had to undergo more surgery.
I trust that this recent surgery has been a success and hope and pray you get better soon. Take care and do not work too hard or too soon.
With very best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.
love from an ardent fan.

I am an avid Corrie fan and can still remember the very first episode some forty years ago on our wee black and white telly from Radio Rentals. Over the years I have really enjoyed your performances as Jack Duckworth. He is a real character. I was sorry to learn of your latest heart problems. However, I am glad the operation was a success. I just wanted to write and wish you a speedy recovery and to thank you for sharing your talents with us and giving us so much pleasure over the years. Take good care of yourself and I look forward to seeing you on future episodes of Coronation Street.
Cheers.

Probably the best singer at really "feeling" the words and making the whole song sound really personal. A joy to listen to - The performance of Wind Beneath My Wings on This is your life TV programme was the first time I heard Bill sing and that rendition a a wonderful song has remained with me ever since.

I grew up with Coronation Street when I lived in the U.K. Unfortunately, we can't get it on Danish television, but I do hope you get back on your feet very soon, and I would just like to wish you every bit of good luck for your near future.

I think you are wonderful. Your protrayl of Jack is amazing. You have the ability to make your audience laugh and cry simultaniously. There are extrememly few people who have that talent. Your acting is top notch, I hope you will remain on the street for a long long time. You are a classic!

Dear Bill,
It is funny how the characters that you end up loving most on Coronation Street usually start out just the opposite.
I love Jack the most! You have made him a wonderful friend, and father figure to lots of ‘homesick’ ex-Brits.
God bless you and speed your recovery

Thanks for all the joy you give so many people with your acting, and your singing, and your being.....

What a lovely website! It was so nice hearing your voice, and looking at your family. I have been a Coronation Street fan since the beginning, and now, in Canada, I have been running a Coronation Street fun pages website, from a weekly quiz to jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, etc. etc.
I have used your character on the site many times. To check it out, go to: LINKS PAGE
So glad to hear you are fit and well again Bill. You have been missed on the Street!

I was so glad to see you are OK. My mum told me that she had caught the tail end of something of the news and saw your picture and thought something horrible had happened. Very pleased to see she had got it wrong. I had no idea you were a singer first and foremost. I have just listened to some of your album on the internet. Great!

Dear Bill,
I've been following your progress from a Corrie fan site, and have posted get-well messages there for months, and just found out about your website from another fan who posted the address-just after reading in my International Express that you are back on the cobbles again! I wish that I'd known earlier and could have posted good wishes here before now, but better late than never, I hope. I'm so happy to know that you are well enough to return to Corrie after your serious illness, and hope that your health will continue to be good, for many years to come!
I watched Corrie from the very first episode as a girl in Newcastle, and then missed a few years after emigrating to Canada, but have been a fan from the beginning, and you and Vera are my favourite couple. Although we are months behind in Canada, I'm happy to know that I will see you again eventually-and up to your usual tricks, putting one over on Vee, and gracing the Rovers' with your presence! The Street wasn't the same without you, so welcome back, Bill, and God bless you. D

Dear Bill: I'm so pleased that you have put together this web page and have chosen to share with us some of your history and personal photos. What wonderful, warm family pictures, I have watched Coronation Street for many years and have enjoyed watching you take "Jack" from a bit of a
layabout and ne'er-do-well to the person that we have all come to love dearly today.
News of your most recent illness saddened us all I know, so it is with a great deal of relief that we hear of the improvement in your health and I look forward to seeing you back on the little screen soon.
Your CD's are among my favorites and I'll look forward to the latest one out. God bless you.

Dearest,dearest Bill,
I am soooo glad to have found this website. I have been praying so hard for you and your family during this "enforced rest". Although Jack is one of my favourites..it is Bill Tarmey that makes him come alive and you have brought me endless pleasure. I am a single person caring for a parent with Alzheimer's disease. It can be very isolating.Today is my birthday and I'm glad I get to get the present of your website and news of your improving health. Thanks for sharing with us all.
Love Beth

I did this all wrong. Sent my first e-mail and then read your life. We lived in the same area. I came from Droylesden and my husband Peter from Audenshaw. We emigrated to Canada in 1974. The street has always portrayed Manchester in the way I remembered my early years. My Dad was in the Manchester Commando Regiment. I empathise with your loss. My Dad was shot but survived, but I still remember the telegram arriving and my mother's reaction. I hope you will continue in good health and keep the laughs coming with Vera.
Joan Bentley.

Best Wishes to you and your family.
